Obama working in KY - redhead staffers update!

Thu May 08, 2008 at 02:48:39 PM PDT

For anyone who read my diary last week about the the Redhead Obama Staffers http://www.dailykos.com/...
I decided to give you an update.  Again, short and sweet, not too fancy...

To start, our Obama staffer is working very hard.  The OBama campaign office officially opened last night...small reception of supporters in attendance.   This was a big step forward for our Obama effort here in southern KY.  Volunteers are signing up to help out however possible. The excitement is evident.  The thrill of having a role in this primary is something new for us.

As we know, it will be a tough road for Obama here but there is support and I know that it is growing - young, old, black, white, rich, poor, men and women are supporting Obama in KY.

Then today, just as we got use to actually having a Campaign Headquarters...another UNEXPECTED treat for Obama supporters happened here which has reinforced my support for Obama...

Remember...this is a small town in KY...Off the beating path, a bit out of the way... and today Besty Myers, Obama's Chief Operating Officer and Chair of Women for Obama, stopped by for lunch!  Ms. Myers, along with other campaign reps, local volunteers and our redheaded staffer sat down with a group of about 30 Obama supporters and again, I was impressed.  How did she find us?  Why did she come?

The answer is crystal clear:  Obama is interested in KY and he wants us to know that.  Ms. Myers mingled with the supporters and gave a great talk about why she supports and is working for Obama.  Her description of her motivation was impressive.  She spent time answering questions and more importantly she talked directly with those in attendance.

Those in attendance came away from today's lunch with an even better understanding of OBama and why people support him.  Ms. Myers and others in Obama's campaign are spending lots of time on the ground here, visiting small towns and their efforts are building support for Obama along the way.

The event today was not only informative and a great time for Obama supporters...it was ASTONISHING that she took the time to come to our small town.  I know everyone in attendance was feeling the same way. I'm so impressed with the campaign's effort to make all voters feel important.  It seems small-town Kentucky is important.  We do matter.  We thank Sen. Obama for caring about us - the people in KY.

I end this diary asking everyone to do what they can to help get the vote out in Ky, WV and the remaining states...Help make calls, canvass, make a donation...small steps win races...Stay focused and help if you can.  The end is in fact near!
