Picture Postcards and Its all about "ME"
Wed Jul 23, 2008 at 08:23:43 PM PDT
I watched the news coverage of Obama's trip to Europe and Asia with my eyes wide open. I was amazed at the impact, the representation and the image this trip has give. HOWEVER, what I keep hearing on CNN, MSNBC and other outlets..."Picture postcards" and all about "ME"...
Be aware...this isn't a highly researched diary...not a lot of fancy links and pictures. Just one person's opinion about the state of today's media....and let me tell you...it is sad.
"fly-over" America and NY Lampoon
Mon Jul 14, 2008 at 06:06:59 AM PDT
I'm posting this diary to provide emails to the New Yorker and its advertisers. They are included below the fold...Yea, Yea, I know...this has been discussed ad nauseum
Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Cite This Source
Ad nauseam (not "ad nauseum") is a Latin term used to describe something that has been continuing "to the point of nausea. For example "This topic has been discussed ad nauseam"; it has been discussed extensively and everyone is tired of it.
Defined as such by the American Heritage Dictionary et al.
Argumentum ad nauseam or argument from repetition or argumentum ad infinitum is an argument made repeatedly (possibly by different people) until nobody cares to discuss it anymore. This may sometimes, but not always, be a form of proof by assertion.
but please bear with me. In addition, for those of us who can't access the current diary because of its size, or have just now got wind of this story, I think we need another venue to express views. The current rec'd diary completely pulled my computer into "lockdown" due to the size.
HRC's supporters continue to rant
Sun Jun 08, 2008 at 09:45:39 AM PDT
I know this has been discussed alot on her but I have spent some time this morning comparing and contrasting the discussion blogs on www.hillaryclinton.com vs. www.barackobama.com. The contrast in atmosphere is striking.
The Rising
Tue Jun 03, 2008 at 07:44:22 PM PDT
Read below the fold! This it is! This says it all. I truly believe this has been a historic night. I love Obama and I love Bruce Springsteen....Read the lyrics...As the MSM is NOW saying, this isn't about him, its about all of us....
Yarmuth, SD from KY heckled by Clinton Supporters at Dem Fundraiser
Sat May 10, 2008 at 08:45:45 AM PDT
This makes my blood boil and I hope everyone will reach out to Rep. John Yarmuth from Ky for speaking out for Obama at last night's Kentucky "Democratic" Party Fundraiser.
The article in today's Courier Journal describes the event. http://www.courier-journal.com/...
Clinton supporter and SD Terry McBrayer made some statements against Obama, in an attempt to get a laugh. FYI his email is tmcbrayer@mmlk.com. It seems, to give Hillary some credit, her speech focused on party unity and McCain. I give her kudos for that. However SD's such as McBrayer and others should cease the attacks on Obama.
Mr. McBrayer, a lot of Kentucky Democrats are not laughing. We are embarassed by your statements and embarrassed by those in attendance who heckled Yarmuth.
Obama working in KY - redhead staffers update!
Thu May 08, 2008 at 02:48:39 PM PDT
For anyone who read my diary last week about the the Redhead Obama Staffers http://www.dailykos.com/...
I decided to give you an update. Again, short and sweet, not too fancy...
To start, our Obama staffer is working very hard. The OBama campaign office officially opened last night...small reception of supporters in attendance. This was a big step forward for our Obama effort here in southern KY. Volunteers are signing up to help out however possible. The excitement is evident. The thrill of having a role in this primary is something new for us.
As we know, it will be a tough road for Obama here but there is support and I know that it is growing - young, old, black, white, rich, poor, men and women are supporting Obama in KY.
Then today, just as we got use to actually having a Campaign Headquarters...another UNEXPECTED treat for Obama supporters happened here which has reinforced my support for Obama...
If you don't have money you need to have sense
Tue May 06, 2008 at 05:14:38 AM PDT
This is another short, sweet diary...I heard this comment just recently when someone ask a local Obama worker "why are you supporting Obama"...
This bugs me - - UPDATED w/ POLL!!!!!
Sun May 04, 2008 at 06:15:31 AM PDT
I realize this isn't substantial enough to have a diary posting but this bugs me and I need people to take action. This was the fastest why I could reach out to Obama supporters...
For over 48 hours CNN.com/politics has run a "banner headline" analysing Wright's impact. This is today - when we have a lot of things going on in the campaigns...Do they not understand that there are other things people need to hear about?
PLEASE EMAIL or CALL 212-275-7800 and ask for viewer feedback - leave a message or hit "0" to take you to a live person. Let's spend some time working on this today and get that banner off the website. Let's jam their phone lines and email boxes. Let's take some action on this...CNN's coverage is alarmingly CLINTON oriented and has been for weeks. I realize this part isn't big news but we definately need to help Obama get this banner off the website.....THANKS FOR CALLING!!!!\
Red-heads at work - updated x4 call to action in KY!
Thu May 01, 2008 at 04:54:03 PM PDT
This will be a short diary..no fancy links, no tear-jerking pictures. I may not get many rec's but I hope some read it... Just a story about why I think Obama is making it work in so many places...and why he is winning.
I live in a small town in Kentucky. In this little town, everyone knows everyone. Everyone knows everyone's business. Comforting to some, annoying to others.
We are pretty typical when it comes to small towns. Lots of ordinary stuff going on right now..Little League, high school graduations, prom, mowing the yard, etc. Pretty typical spring...until this week when something COMPLETELY out of the ordinary happened.
The Biggest Lies... Yet to Come? with poll
Thu Apr 24, 2008 at 02:47:59 PM PDT
As this primary continues, I keep thinking that the American public is either not paying attention or doesn't care...maybe both? As an Obama supporter I read the news, listen to the pundants as most do...trying to get the "facts". Unfortunately, the Hillary lies seem to go untouched by the media but we get an earfull of why Obama lost, the miracle of Hillary's ressrrection, her phenomical fundraising..Why is there no direct commentary about her lies. Is the media that biased? Are they that desperate for this to continue?
What we learned from this...A bit of a rant.
Thu Apr 17, 2008 at 07:55:52 AM PDT
I like millions of others Americans I sat last night and saw the reason this country has lost credibility around the world. I saw the reason the younger generation has lost confidence in our leaders. I saw the reason our topics of conversations are more about Brittney than Hillary. I saw it and it is called the "MEDIA".
Why is Bill so Angry? - Poll Added
Mon Apr 07, 2008 at 07:48:30 AM PDT
I was listening to a talk radio show late Friday night - I usually do not pay much attention to these shows but sometimes in the middle of the night, with miles ahead of you, its the only thing on the radio. In this case it was the Rusty Humphries show but there was a guest host. I don't recall his name and I apologize for that...Ok..to the point. The commentator on the show was asking the question "Why is Bill Clinton so angry?". This question intrigued me so I continued to listen...
Thoughts on "Superdelegate Meeting"
Wed Mar 26, 2008 at 01:40:26 PM PDT
The idea of a superdelegate meeting in June is being proposed by Gov. Bredesen.
The purpose of this posting is to just get a conversation going about this idea since I have seen or heard little about it. I'm not sure what the logistics would be but he is suggesting now on CNN with Wolfe that it would an open meeting held in a neutral place (not NYC or Chicago) with full coverage to the public.
Richardson: What this endorsement shows everyone - Poll added
Mon Mar 24, 2008 at 07:24:00 AM PDT
I know the fact that Gov. Richardson endorsed Obama has been discussed alot however after hearing a comment he made today about this, I think it needs more attention.
Apparently Richardson did speak to Clinton about this and he noted the conversation was "heated". This was reported on MSNBC and other MSM...This is the issue. Hillary cannot believe that he would go against her...as the Clinton camp is saying loud and clear "we made Bill Richardson"...So they are now telling everyone because he is not for her, he is somehow not a good guy, not a smart person, not competent to make an informed decision?
The media plays this like a betrayal to Clinton yet Clinton herself promoted for months and months that "superdels should vote their conscience and not follow the voters' opinions.
The Media and this Race
Wed Mar 19, 2008 at 03:42:33 PM PDT
The media seems dead set on electing Clinton. I know that isn't news to anyone on here is it? What scares me is that everyone in this country needs to be aware of is how the MSM is staging this election. And I"m not sure the average voter is aware of how they are being played.
Obama has an amazing day making a speech that will go down in history as one of the best ever - what does the media say: "will it be enough to squash the controvery over his relationship with his longtime reverend Wright"? Clinton has a so-so day hanging in MI whining about the re-do - what does the media say "Mounting frustration with Obama in the Michigan re-do". or "Obama: the Wright flap has shaken me"...these are just three headlines from CNN today.
..There is no way for Obama to get a positive sustainable story. The MSM even cut away from Obama's speech on Iraq (on the aniversery of the bombing) to cover HRC telling MI voters that it is "un-American" for their votes to not count.
Obama - He is us.
Tue Mar 18, 2008 at 09:40:52 AM PDT
This is a first-time diary for me. I felt compelled to write this after watching Obama's speech today. The reason I'm supporting Obama is simple - he is us. He is all that makes American a great nation and he is all that makes us what we are - good and bad, right and wrong, weak and strong... He has the qualities that can bring the country together and he is in a position to make significant changes in how we think about ourselves.
I am a 50 year old white female - I can see this and I know others can as well. Let's not let the MSM skew what this election is all about. Let's take a look at the man and the candidate and ignore the continued MSM's efforts to divide us as a nation.
